eloping in Italy

You've already planned the big wedding in your head — and quietly hated every version of it.

One hundred people you barely know. A $40,000 invoice that follows you into your first year of marriage. A timeline packed so tight there isn't a single moment to look at each other and just breathe. And a photographer you hired from Instagram who shows up, shoots a thousand frames, and disappears — leaving you with technically correct images that feel completely hollow when you look at them five years later.

You've been dreaming of something completely different. A cliff above the Ionian Sea. A baroque doorway in Noto, where the afternoon light turns the golden limestone into something that looks like it belongs inside a Vermeer painting. Just the two of you, genuinely present, in a place that actually means something.

You just want memories that smell of Mediterranean Sea, that feel the pattern of old baroque doors, memories of you two heated by the welcoming sun light of Sicily.

"The secret isn't finding the right location. It's finding the photographer who knows exactly when the light arrives — and has already been waiting there for you."

My name is Alessio Auditore. I am passionate traveller, an old style romantic guy and, what you matter more, professional photographer for intimate elopements across Middle Eastern Sicily — on Etna at 5 am when the lava field reflects a sunrise that doesn't exist anywhere else on earth, in the baroque courtyards of Val di Noto where the summer light bends around 300-year-old stone, and on boats anchored below Stromboli, where the volcano and the sea become the only witnesses you need.

I'm based in Gravina di Catania (Catania, Sicily). I communicate in English, French, Spanish. I handle every permit, every vendor, and every logistical detail so that when your day arrives, your only job is to be completely, wholly there.

The Secret Ingredient

Why My Images Feel Different.
Il Quarto Minuto.

Most photographers spend the day chasing perfect moments. Posing. Directing. Adjusting. Creating a beautiful, controlled simulation of your love.

"After roughly three minutes in front of a camera, every couple unconsciously forgets I'm there. The fourth minute — that's when the real story begins. The unguarded laugh. The way he looks at her when she doesn't know. The breath that's been held all morning, finally released. I've been waiting for that minute since before you arrived."

L'Attesa
The deliberate wait. Never forcing — always receiving.
Luce Rubata
Stolen light: micro-windows of Sicilian reflection no visitor ever finds.
Radice Locale
Deep-rooted local knowledge that no overseas photographer can replicate.

Why Nothing Has Worked — Yet

You've Already Tried the Obvious Routes.

Here's why they left you more frustrated than when you started.

The American Photographer Who "Does Italy"

He flew over once for a Positano and Milan wedding and now bills himself as a destination specialist. He doesn't know that the Noto Cathedral light turns gold exactly 47 minutes before sunset — not 30, not 60. You paid $12,000 and got beautiful tourist photos. Not your story.

The All-Inclusive Package from a Wedding Agency

€8,000 for a coordinator who sends the same 12-vendor email list to every couple. Photography is one line item out of twenty. No creative vision. No emotional intelligence. No one in that package woke up at 4:30 am to test the light on your specific date.

The Cheapest Local Photographer on Google

€1,800, technically fine, completely forgettable. You'll spend ten years trying not to feel guilty about how flat the images look. These are the photos that stay in the folder you never open.

Planning It Yourself

The Italian civil paperwork alone requires notarised translations, an Apostille stamp, a Nulla Osta issued by your home municipality, and 8–12 weeks of lead time. One missed document and your wedding day becomes legally invalid. You found this out at 11 pm on a Tuesday, reading a Reddit thread.

Booking by Follower Count

100k followers doesn't mean they know Sicily. It means they know Instagram. You need someone who knows the exact rock at Aci Trezza where the Cyclops boulders frame a horizon at 6 am in May — and has never once posted it publicly because he keeps it for his couples.

I Hear You

The Questions You're Already Asking.

Let me answer them honestly — because the couples I work best with are the ones who ask hard questions before they commit.

"How do we know your style is right for us if we've never met?"

Before anything else, we schedule a video call. Not a sales call — a real conversation about how you love each other, what makes you laugh, what you're actually afraid of on the day. If it doesn't feel right, I'll tell you honestly. I only work with couples whose story I genuinely want to tell.

My style in photography is pure reportage mixed with some glamour shot. You can give a look on galleries.

"We're worried about the Italian legal paperwork."

My planning package includes a step-by-step legal document guide specific to your country of origin, a recommended local celebrant who handles symbolic ceremonies (no civil paperwork needed), and a 30-minute call to walk through every step. Hundreds of couples do this successfully every year. I've never had a client miss their date.

"We don't know how to pose. We'll look stiff."

Most of time, I don't pose couples — I give them things to do. Walk here. Tell him the thing you told me on the call. Look at that. By the fourth minute, you've forgotten every awkward thing you feared. It is a natural progression, every minutes gone I make the images you'll hang on your wall for the rest of your life.

"Is the investment really worth compared to a local photographer at just €1,800?"

Consider this: the average US couple spends $32,000 on a home wedding. You're investing a fraction of that in an experience the two of you will genuinely remember — in a location that costs $6,000 to fly to — documented by someone who has spent years learning where the light is perfect. The €2,400 difference is the price of a story that no one else has.

"What if we don't love the photos?"

Nearly impossible. Anyway, I offer the Real Emotion Guarantee. If you open the gallery and not a single image stops your breath, I'll schedule a complimentary second shoot at any Sicilian location of your choosing. No questions, no debate. I'm that confident in what happens after the fourth minute.

"Our families will be disappointed we didn't invite them."

Many of my couples host a celebration dinner back home weeks later. Your Sicily film becomes the centrepiece — guests feel like they were there. Family disappointment almost always dissolves the moment they see the images. And several of them have quietly told me they wished they'd done the same.

Real Stories

What Couples Say

After the fourth minute.

★★★★★

"We flew 10 hours from Portland and were completely terrified we'd made a huge mistake. By 6 am on Etna, watching him wait in total silence for the exact second the light broke over the caldera — I started crying before I even realised it. The gallery destroyed us in the best possible way. We've had people reach out asking if they can use one of our photos as reference for their own elopement. That says everything."

Ashley & Marcus
Portland, Oregon — Mount Etna, May 2025
★★★★★

"We'd spent months talking to photographers who quoted us £15,000 and treated us like a booking number. The discovery call changed everything — he already knew more about us in 45 minutes than photographers we'd interviewed for hours. The Noto baroque light at 4:47 pm in September is something I genuinely cannot describe. The film he made is the only thing we've shown at every family gathering since. My mother-in-law has now asked for his number."

Claire & James
Toronto, Canada — Noto & Taormina, September 2025
★★★★★

"We cancelled a $44,000 wedding in Austin six months before the date. Families were upset. Friends didn't understand. We booked Sicily instead, told no one until we were back. We showed up with 400 images and a 3-minute film — and within the hour, everyone was in tears saying 'that was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.' We saved $39,000. We have zero regrets. We have everything."

If It Doesn't Stop Your Breath — The Next Shoot Is Free.

Within 48 hours of receiving your gallery, if you cannot point to at least one image that genuinely stops you — a photo that makes you put your phone down and sit in silence for a moment — I will personally schedule a complimentary second shoot at any Sicilian location of your choice, at no additional cost.

No fine print. No "reasonable effort" clause. No debate.

I've offered this guarantee for three years. I have never once needed to honour it. Because by the time you reach the fourth minute, I've already made the image that will define how you remember this day.

FAQ

Every Question You Haven't Asked Yet

Answered honestly.

I accept a maximum of 20 couples per year to protect the quality and personal attention each booking deserves. Spring and early autumn dates (April–June, September–October) book 8–14 months in advance. If you have a specific date in mind, the best time to contact me is right now. Dates that are available today may be gone within the week.
No. Many of my couples opt for a beautiful symbolic ceremony led by an English-speaking celebrant — no civil paperwork required. If you wish to have your Sicilian ceremony legally recognised in your home country, I provide a full step-by-step document guide specific to the USA, Canada, Australia, etc..., and can connect you with a local legal planner. Either path works perfectly. The ceremony itself is equally meaningful.
Every single couple I photograph has said this in our first call. By minute four of the shoot, they've all forgotten to be nervous. My approach is built around giving you real things to do — walk, explore, have a specific conversation, look at something together. I don't pose people. I create conditions for authentic moments to emerge, then I wait for them. The result is that your gallery doesn't look like a photo shoot. It looks like a memory.
The core package includes 8 hours of documentary coverage, 2–3 curated locations, 400+ hand-edited full-resolution images, personal printing licence, full location permit handling, pre-wedding planning call, and all English-language communication. The three bonuses — The Elegant Album, The Sicily Love Film, and The Eternal Three prints — are included at no additional cost. Specific pricing is discussed during the discovery call, as I tailor each package to your vision and chosen locations.
The core package includes everything to make this experience perfect. You can also add services, for example extra printed items or albums for your families or we can plan the shooting of different (far) locations in 2 or more days, to allow you to relax each location, no rush, just fun and love!
Sicily in late spring and early autumn has extremely reliable weather. That said, I monitor forecasts for 10 days before your date and maintain backup location plans for every booking. Overcast light in Sicily produces some of the most emotionally powerful images in my portfolio — the flat sky becomes a natural softbox that removes harsh shadows and lets the architecture and emotion carry the frame. Rain, if it arrives, becomes part of the story. I've never had a couple wish they'd rescheduled.
Almost every couple asks me this. The honest answer is: the reaction is usually one of surprise, followed — once they see the gallery and film — by something that looks a lot like envy. Many couples hold a casual celebration dinner at home a few weeks after returning, with the Sicily Love Film as the centrepiece. Families consistently describe it as "more emotional than any wedding I've attended." Several of my clients have told me their parents privately wished they'd done the same in their own time.
Yes. I maintain a private, curated vendor list — English-speaking professionals I've personally worked with and trust completely. Florists who understand editorial aesthetics. Hair & makeup artists who know how to create looks that survive 8 hours of Sicilian sun. Boutique properties that feel like a film set. These are not sponsored recommendations — they are the people I would call for my own wedding. Available to all clients as part of the planning process.
Your complete gallery is delivered within 4 weeks of your elopement date via a private online gallery. You'll receive 5 sneak-peek images within 48 hours of the shoot — enough to start sharing with family while the full edit is in progress. The gallery includes all full-resolution files with a permanent personal printing licence. There is no expiry on the download link.

You receive at home all the printed photos and album within 3 months from the elopement date.
A 25% deposit secures your date and begins the planning process immediately. The balance of € 250 is due on delivery of items at your home. The remaining part is due within 1 week from the elopement date. I accept international bank transfer and major credit cards. Once the deposit is received, your date is removed from availability and all planning resources are unlocked. The deposit is non-refundable in the event of cancellation, but is fully transferable to another date within 12 months.
